History
This material relates to the Ninewells Cancer Campaign (NCC) which was established in 1990 following the success of the CAT Scan Appeal which raised funds for much needed equipment at Ninewells Hospital. The NCC was set up by Dr Pat McPherson who collaborated with Jacqui Wood. Jacqui chaired the Campaign with great success until 2011 when she sadly passed away after her own battle with cancer. The Campaign is now chaired by Lady Fiona Fraser and continues to further the 20 year legacy of legendary fundraising. The NCC fundraising saw a total of £17 million raised by appeals and charity events. NCC collaborated with DC Thomson, making the Beano character Dennis the Menace their campaign mascot. Between 2001 and 2010, the Ninewells Cancer Campaign helped to fund the Scottish Photodynamic Centre, Photon Radio Surgery Equipment, Pathfinder Equipment, Skin Cancer Centre, and vital equipment and grants in various areas of cancer research and treatment. Over the years the NCC has built up an enviable reputation and has received support and substantial unsolicited funding.
