Biographical history

Normile Edward Alexander George Wyndham Elliot Baxter was born on 2nd October 1929 and is the great-grandson of the Rt. Hon William Edward Baxter MP of Kincaldrum, Kilmaron and Invereighty (1825-1890). From 1949 he served as an officer in the Scots Guards serving in Malaya, Cyprus, Egypt and Germany. He was appointed Adjutant Designate in 1956. He retired from the army to join Colvilles Ltd in 1969 and subsequently held directorships in a number of companies. He married Anne Margaret Robertson Hill in 1955 and the couple had four children.
