Many letters from members of the chapter and four letters from Kenneth MacKenzie, Bishop of Argyll and the Isles. Mainly concerning a controversial proposal to elevate St. John's Church, Oban to status as "Cathedral of the United Diocese" possibly affecting Cumbrae's status as "Cathedral of Argyll and the Isles". Includes also: minute of the Synod meeting; a letter from the Earl of Glasgow [George Frederick Boyle]; and three letters from Montagu, Dowager Countess of Glasgow between 1926-1929
