The Bengal Project was initiated by the History Department in 1993, with the purpose of providing a picture of the lives of Scottish people employed in India prior to the 1960's. Project leaders David Swinfen and Chris Whatley invited those with any relevant material to donate the material to the University and also arranged to record the reminiscences of those who lived and worked in Bengal.
