Established by Charles D. Magee in Chicago on 23rd October 1894, the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem is a masonic order for women. Membership is open to women who have a relationship through birth, marriage or legal adoption to a Master Mason in good standing. Like other masonic Orders, the 'White Shrine' is an extremely hierarchical organisation which has a number of offices and maintains close contact with other Orders. Among the chief concerns of the 'White Shrine' is the promotion of the Christian faith. The Dundee order, called the Judea Shrine No. 39 of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, was established in 1935 and meetings continued at least until 2000.
