Biographical history

The Economic and Social History Society of Scotland was formed in 1983. Professional historians; schoolteachers; undergraduate and postgraduate students; archivists; librarians and musuem curators; local historians and genealogists are welcome as members, as well as Scots with a general interest in Scottish history. In addition, the society also has a number of international members from Europe, Australasia, Canada, Japan and the USA. The society produces the 'Journal of Scottish Historical Studies' each year, (Previously published as 'Scottish Economic and Social History') which contains current research by historians of Scottish life and society. The society also produces numerous pubications and runs an annual conference and workshop.
