Biographical history
Michael Bolik was born in Perth, Scotland, in 1958. He attended Kirkton High School in Dundee between 1970 and 1975 and graduated from the University of Dundee (MA Hons, American Studies, although he had started at the University studying for a Physics BSc, but changed in 1975) in 1980. He also obtained a Diploma in Industrial Administration (Marketing Management) from the Dundee College of Commerce in 1981 and obtained a City and Guilds Adult Trainers award in 1990. He graduated with an MLitt in Archives and Records Management from the University of Dundee in 2008. Michael worked at the University of Dundee Archives Services (formerly the Department of Archives and Manuscripts) from 1987 to 2013. Michael's parents were Oskar Bolik (1918-1976), a Polish ex-combatant and later the Lord Provost's chauffeur, and Linda Bolik (1930-1992) who was a staff nurse at Maryfield Hospital and later sister at Royal Victoria Hospital. Oskar Bolik's brother also lived in Dundee after the Second World War and his name was Frank Walter, originally Walter Bolik or Bohlig. He was born in 1914.
