Biographical history
Hilda D. Spear, née King, B.A., M.A., Ph.D. was born 27 August 1926 and educated at Harrow County Girls' School, Furzedown College, Birkbeck College, London University, and Leicester University. She taught at Purdue University, USA, and at Leicester University before being appointed to the English Department at Dundee University (1969). She retired from the Senior Lectureship in 1993 in 2003 was appointed an Honorary Research Fellow. Dr Spear died 10 May 2014
