Correspondents and contents include: William Don, Dundee Orphan Institution ( Thanks anonymous donor [PC?] for donation of £100); Lewis Carmichael, Cambridge House, Piccadilly (Relates to genealogy and his claim on the Earldom of Hyndford); James Spence, 5 Queen’s Square, Newcastle-on-Tyne & Albion Iron Works St. Peter’s, Newcastle-on-Tyne (Discusses his son James [C. Spence]’s career development; expresses surprise at his son’s decision to go to work for PC rather than go to sea); James C. Spence, 270 Kings Road, Chelsea and 53 Sowers road, Southsea (Thanks PC for his assistance in trying to secure him a position; thanks PC for getting him position in the ‘shop’); James C. Lyell, Calcutta (Tells his Uncle [PC] of life in India and advises him that a ship crewed by 50 ‘lascars’ will soon arrive in Dundee) Robert Fisher, Bridge End Cottage, Leven (Fisher, a United Presbyterian Minister asks PC for a contribution towards building a manse for his church. Includes related correspondence from other parties; letter thanking PC for his response to letter and giving background on his congregation which is comprised ‘almost solely of working men’); Copy letter from PC to Rev.
