History
John P Ingram was educated at the Morgan Academy, Dundee. He joined the editorial staff of the People's Journal in 1927, moving the following year to The Courier and The Evening Telegraph where he remained until his retirement in 1975, with a brief interlude in the navy during the Second World War. He was particularly interested in shipping, and built up an extensive collection of notebooks on the subject. He continued to write regular shipping articles for the Dundee newspapers until his death in 1984 at the age of 74.
