Photocopies of notebooks compiled by John P. Ingram, at one time chief reporter and shipping correspondent of the Dundee Courier and Evening Telegraph. They consists of notes on ships built in Dundee, Arbroath, Perth and Fife, their subsequent history, builders, owners, masters etc., arranged topographically and chronologically and in some cases by subject. Some notebooks include notes on local history and personalities. The notebooks cover the period 1767-1978. MS 73/1-8 Gives details and general information on type, tonnage, builders, masters and owners of vessels, listed chronologically. MS 73/9-38 Gives details of type, tonnage, builders, and owners of the vessels, arranged alphabetically, including some duplication of that in MS 73/1-8; also notes on a wide variety of topics relating to shipping and local history.
