The Scots Language Resource Centre gathers material in or on Scots. The Centre works with other organisations to develop new teaching resources and it acts as an information exchange for folk organisations and material concerning the Scots tongue. The SLRC is funded by the Scottish Arts Council and Perth and Kinross Council and gets additional money from members and people that support the Scots tongue. The Centre is in the AK Bell library in Perth and is staffed every day. The SLRC is a member of the European Bureau of Lesser Used Language (EBLUL) and takes part in the meetings of the Scottish Parliament's cross party group on the Scots language.

Records concerning the life and adventures of Mary Eleanor Bowes (1749-1800) with correspondence from Robert Maxtone Graham concerning the Maxtone Graham family, 1776-1993. These records were transferred from Dundee University Library in 1993. They were found enclosed in a copy of 'The Confessions of the Countess of Strathmore, Written by Herself' (London, 1793). Mary Eleanor Bowes (1749-1800), Countess of Strathmore, was born in 1749, the only child of George Bowes (1701-1767) and Mary Gilbert. In 1767 she inherited her father's estate and on 24 February married John Lyon (later Bowes-Lyon), Earl of Strathmore. He died in 1776 and in the same year she married Andrew Stoney whom she later divorced in 1789 following his mistreatment of her. She died on 28 April 1800 and was buried in Westminster Abbey. Her love affairs were published in 'The confessions of the Countess of Strathmore, written by herself' (London, 1793).
