/1 Scrapbook, inscribed 'Robert Thornton esquire Dundee', containing an original despatch sent by the Earl of Ancram, warning that any property or people found harbouring arms would be punished, 1746. With dried flower [possibly white rose cockade or sweet william?] The Scrapbook contains pictures from magazines etc featuring European buildings and artworks, with scenes of Australian buildings and places, particularly around Brisbane, some news cuttings, sketches and printed verses headed 'Crichton Institution'.

/2 Contextual papers, comprising modern transcript of the military despatch, provenance and pedigree of the scrapbook and the Small and Thornton families, with note on the 'Scotland Invasion' of Honley.
