(1086) Letter, Edinburgh, Bishops Gillan and Keith to their Episcopal Brethren. Reminds them of the decision of an earlier meeting of the Brethren to declare the decree of suspension against Mr Mabane null and void. Expresses concern over possible divisions among the clergy caused by Bishop Freebairn's pursuit of the matter using unprocedural means.

(1090) [1] Letter, 25 March, 1738, Muldery, Rev. Alexander Cheyne to Rev. James Allan. Informs him of his desire to be transferred to Stonehaven, since he cannot serve his "present cure without being reduced to straits", and asks for a demission from his present charge of Murray, since it will be left vacant. [2] Letter, 4 April, 1738, Rev. James Allan to Rev. Alexander Cheyne. Replies to letter of 25 March. Asks Cheyne to reconsider his decision to move because the Diocese will be left short of presbyters. There is also a note from the back of the paper, possibly in Bishop Dunbar's hand, which advises the congregation at Murray to pursue the matter of Mr Cheyne's leaving at a forthcoming meeting of the Bishops.
