Mentions his bother, H. I. Dalyell. He seems to be quite angry with Dalyell as he keeps asking for money and is not doing anything with his life; he fears Dalyell is getting into debt. Dalyell (son) is now working on a ship which pleases his father.

Talks about the artist (?) Galignani, who James has bought portraits of Napoleon and Shakespeare from. Tibbins son was born on the 1st Sep 1834. Dalyell borrows money from Tibbins as Aubert has refused to help. Contains a 'statement of Mr. Dalyell's Account with Mr. Tibbins'.

Again apologising for not writing. He talks about a baptism; his son's? The second letter includes a copy of a letter sent to Dalyell informing him that he owes money, £20. Dalyell is asking Frank if he would be able to raise the money with the help of other friends (Tibbins).
