The pirates, under the command of Cayasanno Aragonez, aboard the schooner 'La Zaragozanna', were captured in Maston Harbour, Cuba, 11 April 1823. James Dalyell played a prominent part in the capture, and it was on his evidence and that of his Captain that 29 pirates were tried at Kingston. All were subsequently hanged.
Describes the ship's voyages between Guaymas, Mazatlan and San Blas, together with details of facilities and situation of each port. The extract includes detailed recordings of the appearance of a comet, sighted between 7 March 1843 and 3 April 1843, whilst in the Gulf of California. Also contains a loose page from an almanac dated January 1840. On one side there is a list of 'anniversaries of remarkable events' for the month; and on the reverse is part of a note referring to Lord Hawkes, Commander R.N.
