Personal Correspondence of David E. Stimpson

David E. Stimpson became the Principal of Dundee College of Education in 1959, at the age of 44. Prior to this he was appointed assistant to the principal in 1951, and served as acting Principal following the death of Mr David Howat. Prior to arriving at Dundee, Mr Stimpson taught in Glaswegian primary and secondary schools and during the Second World War served on the staff of the British Army in Washington. He retired as principal of the College of Education in October 1979.

Personal correspondence of Dr William A Illsley

Born in 1921, W A Illsley served in the Grenadier Guards and the Indian Army. After graduating Durham University and receiving his doctorate from St Andrews University, Illsley joined Dundee College of Education in 1960, becoming its Vice Principal in 19?. Upon the retirement of David Stimpson, Illsley became principal in 1979, continuing in this position until 1989.
