(i) March 1833. Description of Tours and village of Savonnaire April 1832. Description of journey to Paris from Chailly and account of activities whilst there. (ii) April 1832. Paris. Dalyell's diary account of his stay. Also contains draft letters to his half-brother, Francis Aubert, and to Louise Deleuse, a girl friend. (iii) July 1833. Description of the "Monumens Antiques" at Nimes (Nismes) written by James Dalyell in French. (iv) Manuscript showing yearly and monthly expenses of James Dalyell while at Tarbes, 1833-1838. Included in the list is a sum set aside for "Mary", presumably Marie Anne, who later became Dalyell's wife. [MS] (v) 20 November 1834. Note of a visit to Tournay by James Dalyell and Charles Ducombs. On the reverse are notes of special features at Bordeaux, Nismes, Clermont and Lyons. (vi) Note on Pottery, Earthenware and Porcelain Manufactories, including those at Oreil and Montereau. n.d. (vii) Pencil note describing landscape around Tarbes. On the reverse is a penned quotation from Sir Robert Inglis who suggested in Parliament that London's 30,000 thieves should be made to pay for the support of the Police. n.d.
